Kagawong Municipal Marina
of Manitoulin Island
The marina is managed by Delroy Prescott this season and he will work out of the marina and the township office. Mr. Prescott can be reached at the township office at 705-282-2611 by phone, 705-282-3199 by fax, or by e-mail at kagawongmarina@xplornet.com. In addition, Billings will have two students hired for general duties at the marina. Telephone the marina at 705-282-8800 from May to October.
The village of Kagawong offers both natural beauty and a variety of businesses to service your needs.
The place “Where the Mists Rise from Falling Waters” is in fact the Bridal Veil Falls, where the Kagawong River flows out of inland Lake Kagawong over a limestone bluff to its mouth beside the Small Craft Harbour.
Maybe you’ll see an otter playing around the marina or at the mouth of the river. You are sure to hear and probably see the famous Sand Hill Cranes that summer on Manitoulin. Manitoulin abounds in wildlife - if driving, we suggest you travel below the speed limit so you don't miss the deer and other animals that hide in the treeline. Hunters travel from afar to take advantage of the plentiful venison available here during the various hunting seasons.
Close by in the village you will find Berry Boats, with a well stocked marine chandlery and licenced mechanics.
Kagawong has two well stocked variety stores with a good range of provisions (one is also a LCBO outlet).
You'll find several gift stores - Tweebles is located across from the Bridal Veil Park. Here you can browse through the store for gifts and sit down in the Celtic Tea Room for a snack and a cup of one of many different teas available. Just down the road you can rent a kayak and take a look up the river and relax and unwind surrounded by nature. Down the hill leading to the downtown core you will find the Chocolate Works with speciality chocolates made on the premises and a range of coffees made fresh while you wait..
Ontario’s Prettiest Village
Your visit to Kagawong might start up at the top of the hill above the downtown area. Across from the Esso Complex is a picnic area and a trail that leads down to the base of the falls following both sides of the stream to Mudge Bay.
