Regular Meeting of July 2, 2003
PRESENT:
Reeve Aus Hunt, Council Members Sharon Alkenbrack, Jim McLean, Rick Rusk,
Patrick McColman.
STAFF: Acting Clerk-Treasurer: Lorraine McLean, Water Operator: Bill Newlands,
Water Operator in Training: Kevin Miller, Tom Sasvari from the Recorder.
DECLARATION OF PECUNIARY INTEREST:
Council Member Jim McLean disclosed a pecuniary interest in the matter of
Accounts for Payments and personal matters about an identifiable individual and
did not take part in the discussion, vote on the matter or attempt to influence
members on their vote.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT this Regular Meeting of the Council of the Corporation of
the Township of Billings be opened for business with a quorum of members present
at 7:30 p.m. with Reeve Hunt presiding in the Chair.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Minutes of the June 26, 2003 Special Meeting be accepted
as presented.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we thank the Library Committee,
Elsie Christian, Barb Bright, Muriel Hunt for attending this meeting.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we accept with regret the resignation of William Newlands
our Water Plant Operator and thank him for his many years of dedicated service.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we appoint Kevin Miller as the Chief
Water Plant Operator effective immediately and adjust his salary
to reflect the current rate for the Chief Water Plant Operator.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we advertise for a Water Operator
Trainee to be the back up for Kevin Miller as soon as possible.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we rescind resolution # 03-152 re: vote by mail.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we give Billings Volunteer Fire Dept. a donation of $250.00
for fireworks on July 19, 2003.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we re-advertise for the position of Clerk- Treasurer due to
candidates did not meet qualifications..

03 - 186 McLean - Rusk
BE IT RESOLVED THAT we allow Kevin Miller to rent the lower kitchen in the Park
Centre to Mrs. Corinne Smith every Tuesday for 8 weeks at the flat rate of
$500.00 with the understanding that the facilities to be left in the same state
of cleanliness as they began.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT Council authorize the following Accounts for Payments:
General Accounts: $65,224.82
Public Works: $ 5,960.24
And that the Reeve & Treasurer is authorized to sign cheques
# 2324 to # 2377 as described in the attached Cheque Register.

BE IT RESOLVED THAT in accordance with Section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001
S.O, Chapter 25, this Council proceed to a closed session at 9:10 PM in order to
discuss a matter pertaining to:
Personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local
board employees. (b)
Labour relations or employee negotiations (d)
