Regular Meeting of April 22, 2003

PRESENT: Reeve Aus Hunt, Council Members Sharon Alkenbrack, Rick Rusk, Patrick McColman,  Jim McLean.

STAFF:  Clerk-Treasurer: Alton Hobbs,  Public Works Superintendent: Garry Miller

03-86 McLean - Rusk

BE IT RESOLVED THAT this regular meeting of the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Billings be opened for business with a quorum of members present at 7:30 p.m. with Reeve Hunt presiding in the Chair.

03-87 Rusk - McLean

BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Minutes of the April 1, 2003 Regular Meeting be accepted as presented.

03-88 McLean - Rusk

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we authorize the submission of the following summer employment grant applications:

H.R.D.C.: Summer Career Placement Program: Swimming Instructor, Library Assistant

M.C.,C.T.& R.: Summer Experience 2003: Museum Assistant , Office assistant

Pursuant to the applications proposed.

03-89 Rusk - McLean

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we inform the Planning Board that we have no objections to Consent Application B 014-03;

AND THAT we inform the owner of the property that our current water department policies will require a separate water service connection to each building on the property even if two properties are merged into one.                                                                                                                                          CARRIED

03-90 Alkenbrack - McColman

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we confirm that the 2003 mileage rate for employees conducting municipal business is 30 cents per kilometer.                                                                                                                                                                                CARRIED

03-91 Alkenbrack - McColman

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we inform Northern Marina that we will undertake repairs and painting of the boathouse and shower house;

AND THAT our Public Works Department will undertake to assure a navigable channel and do whatever dredging can be done this spring.                                                                                                                                                                                                      CARRIED

03-92 Rusk - Alkenbrack

BE IT RESOLVED THAT  Council authorize the following Accounts for Payment: General Accounts        $  94,074.42

                      Public Works Accounts     7,526.62

AND THAT the Reeve and Treasurer be authorized to sign Cheques # 3195 to # 3249 as described in the attached Cheque Register.

03-93    Rusk - Alkenbrack

BE IT RESOLVED THAT in accordance with Section 239 of the Municipal Act, 2001,S.O., Chapter 25 this Council proceed to a closed session at 8:35 p.m. in order to discuss a matter pertaining to:

d) Labour Relations or Employee Negotiations.                                                                                           CARRIED.

03-94 Alkenbrack - Rusk

PROTECTED UNDER THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION AND PROTECTION OF PRIVACY ACT.

                                                                         CARRIED.

03-94   Rusk - McLean

BE IT RESOLVED  THAT we adjourn from our closed session and resume our regular meeting.

                                                                           CARRIED.

03-95   McLean - Rusk

BE IT RESOLVED THAT we adjourn until the next regular meeting or Call of the Chair.

                                                                            CARRIED.
